Welcome to Bamar - Quality by Design ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bamar sail handling and furling products are manufactured in Forli, Italy by Advanced Research and Technology srl (A.R.TE.), and are imported into and distributed throughout North America by Veco NA of Annapolis MD. Bamar products have gained an enviable reputation in Europe for their high quality and excellence of engineering, and Veco NA is proud to have been chosen to represent them. Veco NA also imports and distributes Frigoboat refrigeration and Climma air conditioning, both produced by Veco S.p.A., also in Italy. The manufacturing facilities at A.R.TE. are impressive indeed, with upward of 25 CNC machines, some featuring 7 axis and some capable of handling 25 tons, but all busily machining parts out of solid stainless steel and aluminum. When you compare a Bamar system to others, you will see that Bamar seldom use welding or casting in their construction. Every component possible, small and large, is machine crafted with incredible precision from a solid piece of metal, under computer control and guidance. Using this method, weak points are minimised, strength and durability are maximised, and tolerances kept under tight control. The product line from Bamar includes manual, electric and hydraulic furling systems for all size vessels, up to and including mega-yachts like the 275' sloop Mirabella V. Bamar was chosen to manufacture the three massive headsail furlers for Mirabella V, an engineering feat far beyond all previous endeavours in this field. Following on from the success of that daunting project, Bamar went on to win the coveted DAME award at METS 2004 in Amsterdam, Holland for the powered version of the Roll-Gen asymmetrical spinnaker furler. METS is the world's largest marine equipment trade show, and the DAME award is the grand prize. It is presented annually to the entry showing the greatest design excellence, ease of use, originality, and value for money.
